Happy birthday GIN
Successful first year for the GIN program
Already a year has passed since the Global Incubator Network has been launched by the two Austrian government promotion agencies aws & FFG. The institutions manage the program jointly and look forward to further successful years as well as to enlarge the network with many high-level partners and startups.
It all started in October 2016 with the goal to connect market-leading startups and born globals with incubators, accelerators and investors in order to facilitate their internationalization. The program’s purpose is not only to enhance the expansion of Austrian startups to the GIN target countries by introducing them to all major stakeholders in the respective region during a four-week incubation program. But also to create manifold opportunities for international startups to set up a subsidiary in Austria by familiarizing them with the key stakeholders during the acceleration period organized by GIN twice yearly.
So far, three acceleration batches have been realized. Two of them in Austria, with 17 participating startups, from Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Russia, Azerbaijan and Japan. This success story will be continued with the next two batches taking place in May and October 2017.
On the outgoing side, new programs will be added for Singapore, Hong Kong and Seoul in the coming year. So far, one incubation program has been conducted in Tel Aviv, with eight outstanding Austrian startups from the ICT and cybersecurity sector. Apart from that, the GIN program management already established strong partnerships to 40 high-level stakeholders in the targeted startup ecosystem and looks to expand this networks further.
The program management is looking forward to the upcoming programs, especially to get to know the high-level participants.
